Welcome to The Earl Carriage House, your home-away-from-home in the heart of Seattle's Ballard neighborhood. Our little cottage is neatly tucked between houses that dot the idyllic tree-lined street. The Carriage House is the perfect base for your Seattle stay, designed to put you right at home from the moment you step through the door. Inside, you'll find a spacious interior with with rustic wood accents, cozy textiles, and natural elements that create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Good to Know


The Earl Carriage House is a charming, two-story guest house, tucked away behind our home, offering plenty of space for a couple. While technically it is a backyard cottage, it is accessed without ever entering our yard or shared spaces. You will have total privacy. You'll also have dedicated off-street parking in the driveway in front of the Carriage House. The open layout downstairs features a comfortable living area with ample seating, a charming electric stove, cable TV with streaming options, and a dining area adjacent to a fully equipped kitchen, complete with full-size stainless steel appliances. All-Clad cookware and a selection of regional cookbooks will inspire your culinary adventures. On Sundays, don't miss the nearby Ballard Farmers Market for the freshest ingredients. Upstairs, you'll find a cozy bedroom and spacious tiled bathroom with laundry facilities. Relax in the queen-sized bed while gazing up through the skylight overhead. The stunning quartersawn oak antique doors salvaged from Seattle's Palladian Hotel add to the ambiance. We take your comfort seriously and have provided a Simmons Beautyrest mattress with luxurious cotton linens, embroidered robes, slippers and a curated collection of feather pillows encased in hypoallergenic covers. For entertainment, we have assorted board games, a lending library, a TV with cable, Netflix, and streaming options, reliable Wi-Fi, and a Bluetooth speaker. Complimentary coffee, tea, and assorted cereal bars are provided. What really sets The Earl Carriage House apart is our commitment to hospitality. The Earl Carriage House is located on a beautiful tree-lined street in a quiet, residential pocket of the exciting Ballard neighborhood. A handful of coffee shops and restaurants are just a few blocks away, or take a 15-minute stroll to historic downtown Ballard. You will be close to public transportation, the sandy beaches at Golden Gardens and so much more. Late March and Early April visitors will be treated to a magnificent display of Cherry blossoms! Located in the northwestern part of the city, Ballard is known for its maritime heritage, Scandinavian roots, and thriving food and arts scene. Start your day with a stroll to the Ballard Farmers Market, open every Sunday from 10am to 3pm, where you'll find fresh produce, flowers, artisanal crafts, and food trucks serving up local delicacies. Explore the trendy boutiques, coffee shops, and galleries along Ballard Avenue, or head down to the historic Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, where you can watch boats pass between the Puget Sound and Lake Union. Foodies will love Ballard's diverse dining options, from classic fish and chips at the iconic Ballard Smokehouse to gourmet farm-to-table fare at Stoneburner or Staple and Fancy. The Carriage House could technically be considered a guest house since it is on our property, but you will find all of the privacy you need thanks to strategic fencing, landscaping and our respectful hosting style. Before your visit, we will provide you with a unique access code for easy check in, usually the last four digits of your phone number registered with Airbnb.

Ballard is an excellent home base for your visit to Seattle and provides easy access to many of Seattle's attractions. If you are flying into Seatac Airport, it is about a 30-45 minute drive to the Carriage House. Alternately, you can take the light rail from the airport to downtown and hop on a bus that will drop you about four easy blocks away. For visitors who are traveling by car, ECH offers private parking for up to two cars in the driveway. From our location, it's easy to access major highways and explore the city's many attractions. ECH has a rating of "Very Walkable" from Walk Score and is four blocks from public transportation that will take you downtown or anywhere you want to go! Public transportation in Seattle is operated by King County Metro, which offers bus service throughout the city and surrounding areas. There are multiple bus routes that can be accessed within just a few blocks. Visit the King County Metro website for schedules and fare information. If you prefer to explore Ballard on foot or by bike, there are several bike rental shops and walking tours available in the area. The Burke-Gilman Trail, a popular multi-use path that spans 18 miles from Ballard to Bothell, is just a few blocks from our Carriage House. Seattle is also home to several ride-sharing services, including Uber and Lyft, which offer convenient and affordable transportation options throughout the city. No matter how you choose to get around, our Carriage House in Ballard is the perfect base for exploring Seattle's many attractions and neighborhoods.
